CatFish

and the Dog Club

Catfish emerged as the counterfoil to the dog club back in the days of the ODC. They swam in schools and dressed similiar to each other and had their own lingo. If dogs can be said to be all about the hoop, the catfish typically loves to focus on the dehoop. And thus it was destined that a fierce rivalry be born.

Dogs like to hoop it up and talk shog about what latest hoop phases are hooping, tell mofo’n stories and generally run buyge jauqs. A Catfish would talk about what “deep shog” they’ve been thinking about, talk about cutting themselves, and talk about how much pain their souls are in. You know the type of shogtalk I’m sure. The opposite of Dog you can conclude is therefor not Cat, but Catfish. After all, cats have much more characteristics with Dogs than either do with the slimy, bottom feeding, wetmass sitch of a catfish.

The short version is that catfish dwell in the shadows (dehoop) and dogs hoop it in the day (hoop).

But catfish aren’t necessarily lodge, after all they have a lot of similar traits to dogs in that they love uniformity, rep’ing their brand, and being brave enough to commit hardcore to a style as opposed to you know dressing like a hoople in like a t-shirt and meijer shorts. And they typically are even hooped on a lot of the same shog (phases, science, the arts).

All the more reason for the heated rivarly between catfish and dogs.

The War

Althouh Catfish/Dog tension has been recording going as far back as the Rufformation, things really reached a boiling point at the turn of the century. At this point the Dog Club had steadily been gaining popularity and inductions were on the rise. The war of the Catfish was the first major war of the club but unlike the much documented 'War of the Bos' this war was of a much grander scale as it took aim at an ideology as well as a specific group of sitches.

In effort to spread awareness and hoop, after war was officially declared, the dogs started using the 'No Catfish' symbol which they pasted on their briefcases and shog. The spread of this image was so prevelant that this symbol was the most synomous icon of the dog club for that entire era. Even beyond the war, it was used as a sort of early 'Dog Club' logo before being replaced by the paw in the Dogaissance.

DogClubForever.com circa the war. The site was heavily monitored by school officials and we used this to both slander the Catfish while promoting Dog Club ideals.

Catfish in the DogClub

In the ODC, Cog was the classification for Catfish Dog. Despite being at war at the time, several Half-fish were inducted, including Kitty Cog, PKog and you could prob. make a good argument for Fish Dog.
